I hate the cities bright lights for that. The night is like a winter twilight all year. Meteor showers? Hale-Bop? They’re blurred and hopelessly weak except by the sea side or in a park, and then the sides are devoured in light from the surrounding sprawl.
This reminds me of the great blackouts in NY (where I live). I walked to a hilltop and got to see more stars than I’d ever seen in my life. I felt calm too. It was beautiful.

this is how i feel almost exactly. i think i could never live in a big city like new york, even chicago. too many lights.
